Hosting and maintenance decide whether your website will look as good in two years as on the day it launched. At Grafwerk we run our customers’ sites on high-performance infrastructure in Germany (Hetzner, Swiss server on request) and keep them technically current, so you can look after your business instead of servers.

Can Grafwerk also look after an existing website?

Yes. We take over existing sites after a technical check, document them and add them to one of our maintenance packages.

Where are the servers?

By default in a data centre in Germany (Hetzner, Nuremberg), operated under EU data protection law (GDPR). That is included in the base price. On request we set up a server at the location of your choice, for example in Switzerland if Swiss data protection law should apply. A surcharge applies in that case, which we tell you concretely before setup.

Can I change the server location later?

Yes. A move is possible at any time, without the website having to be rebuilt. We schedule a short maintenance window and migrate data, domain and certificate.

What operation by Grafwerk includes

Your site runs on fast servers at Hetzner in Germany (Swiss server on request), with SSL certificate, daily backups and availability monitoring. If something fails, we notice before you do. We keep software and dependencies current and apply security updates promptly.

On top comes what a hosting provider alone never delivers: we know your website, because we built it or took it over and documented it. If you need a text change, a new team member on the page or an extra section, you write us an email and it is done, usually within two working days.

Server location: Germany by default, elsewhere on request

By default your website runs on our server in Germany (Hetzner, Nuremberg data centre). That is EU territory, the GDPR applies, and the connection into Switzerland is fast enough that a visit from Schaffhausen shows no noticeable difference to a Swiss location. For the vast majority of SME sites this is the right choice, and it is included in the base price.

If your industry or your internal policy requires a different location, we set it up on request: Switzerland, if Swiss data protection law should apply, or another country if your market is there. That means a dedicated server rather than a place on ours, so a surcharge applies, which we tell you concretely in advance. You can still move later, without the website having to be rebuilt.

Three packages, cancellable monthly

**Basic** covers operation: hosting, SSL, backups, monitoring and updates. **Comfort** adds up to one hour of content care per month and priority on requests. **Partner** is meant for sites that are continuously developed, including analysis of visitor numbers and a short report per quarter.

All packages are cancellable monthly. There is no setup fee if we built your site, and a one-off takeover fee applies if we take an existing site into care.

Why professional maintenance pays off

An unmaintained website becomes gradually slower, less secure and less visible in search results. The damage only shows when it is expensive: after a break-in, an outage or a drop in rankings. Regular care costs a fraction of that and preserves the value you created with the rebuild.
